Rachel Lindt – Nomadic Community Center

The nomadic community center is a mobile compact unit that will be constructed to fit underneath the vacant space of a staircase in UCSB’s Art Department, whose goal is to actively engage with the public and their environment through events on a frequent basis. The unit will make use of the common negative space found in architecture by engaging and highlighting the empty space through the storage of this unit. Once pulled out from the space, it can then unfold to be a multi-layered structure for sitting, conversation, projecting video onto nearby walls, drinking tea or dining.
